French Twists
Bringing sophistication and elegance back to the red carpet, the French twist was a refreshingly classic trend in hair at the Hollywood Foreign Press' big night. Eva Longoria looked positively polished with a twist that boasted lots of height and matched the sleek style of her black gown. Carrie Underwood let a short layer frame her face to loosen up her blond updo. And while the public's eyes were admittedly most interested in Natalie Portman's burgeoning bump, her soft, but clean French twist complemented her empire-waisted gown flawlessly.

Forget the sideswept bang, it was all about the frontal fringe at this year's Golden Globes. "Glee" vocal powerhouse Amber Riley got in on the blunt-bang craze but combined her take on the trend with bold, shiny curls swept dramatically to one side of her face. "It" girl Olivia Wilde paired her princess ball gown with modern tresses -– sporting blunt bangs paired with superlong locks. Wilde's stylist Terry Millet applied Kérastase Volumactive Mousse & Care Kérastase Volumactive to wet hair prior to blow-drying to give her straight strands texture and volume. Sandra Bullock wowed with dark, eyebrow-skimming fringe and sleek strands with pointed ends.

When celebrities craved both height and length, they opted for sleek ponytails that offered them both. Kyra Sedgwick allowed her long bangs to frame her lovely face while sweeping her mane into a pretty pony. "Covert Affairs" star and Golden Globe nominee Piper Perabo added a bit of volume just beyond her hairline that played into her sleek blond ponytail. And new "American Idol" judge Jennifer Lopez kept her mane tightly slicked back to present her long, flowing ponytail.
Many ladies chose to keep locks long and loose, going a bit retro with curvy strands. "Glee"'s Jayma Mays opted for a dramatic side part for her red mane with slightly messy waves. Megan Fox showed her softer, sweeter side with romantic texture that was swept to one side. And Dianna Agron was the antithesis of her villainous character Quinn Fabray with gorgeous curls pulled back from either side of her face.
